Hamburg: A Photo Diary

Hamburg definitely ranks as one of my favorite cities in Germany. The nightlife is fun and vibrant, the seafood and sushi is crave-worthy, and the harbor is perfectly peaceful on a quiet weekend afternoon. Here are just a few of my photos from two consecutive weekends in Hamburg.

We stayed at 25hours Hotel, centrally located in Hafencity right next to the harbor. The interior of the hotel is designed with a nautical theme in a modern, edgy way. There are metal pipes and doors, wooden crates, leather chairs and rope hammocks- all reflected in the lobby, rooms, and hotel restaurant. It ranks as one of our favorite boutique hotels in Germany.

A glam restaurant to take your date to is East Restaurant. The ambience is sufficiently snooty, the service slow and terrible, but the sushi is most excellent.
We also stopped by three of the local Christmas markets (of course!) and this one was the most unusual: located near a red light district street, this Christmas market celebrated, well, sex. The stalls sold sex toys, the chocolates were penis-shaped, and the trees were glittery and pink. The mascot was a Santa who seemed to have his pants perpetually falling off.
We loved the outdoor area seating that was designed like a cozy living room, complete with sofas, heat lamps, blankets, and faux flickering fireplaces. Perfect for sharing a mug of mulled wine.

Had a delicious meal at the best seafood restaurant in Hamburg, the Fischereihafen-Restaurant. I wouldn't say that the food was as excellent as the reviews put it to be, but the ambience and service were impeccable.

Worth a visit, do you think? ^_~
