Product Review: Aēsop Rosehip Lip Cream

I remember I wrote back in March in one of my Squeezed! posts that this Aēsop Rosehip Lip Cream was "worthless" and "doesn't feel that hydrating". Puhaha! I am here to eat my words.

I swore that I wouldn't repurchase this, but whilst at a store in central Munich looking at diptyque candles, they just happened to have Aēsop goodies and I just grabbed this without thinking twice. I'm glad I did.

Let me just say that no matter how much I eat my words regarding the actual efficacy of the product itself, the packaging is still shit. The tube is streamlined, attractively neutral, and retains that metallic foil aspect that was so popular in 1940s. Sadly, this aesthetic proves itself detrimental with the creamy aspect of the Lip Cream because the tube isn't sturdy enough to pressurize the stuff to stay inside the tube. As soon as you unscrew the top, the Lip Cream will come gushing out, forcing you to either apply a giant gob to your lips or wipe it away, an annoying prospect considering the hefty price tag of €13,00 on this sucker. Don't even get me started on what happens in warmer weather.

Despite the terrible packaging and the barely-there moisturizing this product does, I still parted with the €13,00 for this product. "Why?!", you ask. Well, let me just say that I've tried gazillions- GAZILLIONS I tell you!- of lip balms/butters/glosses/creams, and there is nothing quite like the Aēsop Rosehip Lip Cream in terms of the silky texture and wisp of softness that the cream imparts upon the lips.

I wish I could let you feel my lips after I apply this cream. The lightness of the cream is unequalled. The softness of your lips immediately after application is unreal. Does it last? No. Does it feel absolutely amazing for those few seconds? Absolutely.

The faint citrus smell is pleasant and to be expected from the Aēsop brand. Considering how silky the texture feels, it surprisingly contains no silicone or paraffin. It's perfect to carry around and maybe share a little with or gift your significant other- the neutral packaging makes them feel more manly about using a "lip cream".

If you're looking for a stocking stuffer this holiday season, grab one of these and throw it in there!
