Product Review: Dior Lip Glow

As much as I adore that glamorous, femme fatale matte red lipstick look, having lipstick on always makes me paranoid: I have to constantly check to see if my lips look dry or cracked, make sure never to brush against anything in case I leave a stain, always reapply after taking one sip from my glass... obviously, lipstick is a pain in the ass. Lip tints are definitely better, but too glossy and wet to wear during the day. I much prefer a natural, moisturized, healthy tint to my lips, which is why I always carry Dior's Addict Lip Glow with me everywhere I go.

I tend to have dry lips, so the number one function of my lip product has to be hydration. This balm goes on thickly, giving a heavy, lasting moisture that is maintained for at least 3 hours.

Do you notice the reddish color that surrounds the tip? That's the color that this balm becomes on my lips. Dior Lip Glow operates with the chemical properties that responds with your lip's color pigmentation to "create a shade uniquely yours". For me, a rosy pinkish lip color emerges about 5 minutes after application, but I've read reviews where the buyers felt fooled by the claims of "customized lip color" because the changed color was one that was unflattering for their skin tone (it became hot pink for some women). You do need to know that the color may change as your body heats up the properties in the balm, so test one first: apply one at the Dior counter, walk around and do the rest of your shopping, and see how the color reacts to your skin before purchasing. I love the rosy pink color that appears on me- it's super flattering and only pumps up my natural reddish lips, so this changes into the perfect color for me.

Dior Glow also contains SPF 15, so it's hydration, protection, and color in one, perfect for the gal on the go! Small wonder that I have multiple sticks of this in my go-to black-based and go-to brown-based purses, in addition to my mini makeup case.

What are your preferred lip products? Lipsticks, lip tints, lip balms, lip butters... so many, right?!

  1. I'm so glad you wrote a review of the Dior Lip Glow! I've literally been on the fence about this for 2 years. I could never justify such an expensive lip balm but after reading this post, Dior Lip Glow is going on my Christmas list
