Product Review: Aveda Outer Peace Cooling Masque

As I mentioned in the previous post, the cold and windy weather in Munich has been really messing with my skin. I've been getting bumps in places that are normally blemish-free, and have been racing around trying to research and purchase anything that will give me relief. I did a skincare haul and have been diligently trying out each product. Miraculously, two of the products (within the same range) seem to have almost overnight results, so I absolutely have to share those two products with you. One of them is the Aveda Outer Peace Cooling Masque:

This is a product within the Outer Peace skincare line that focuses on calming your skin and reducing redness, both of which it most certainly does. It does not, however, prevent blemishes with a deep-pore-cleansing type of feel like that of the Origins Charcoal Mask (my review of that here) or the Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser (my review here). It doesn't pierce through the skin to really prevent any blemishes, and also doesn't have the tightening effect of those masks. It does, however, diminish and reduce the blemishes and redness you may already have on your skin, which yessir I did need.

This jade green concoction emerged out of the tube when I squeezed. How bright and fun is this?

It does "crust" over in time, and after about a 10-15 application and waiting period, when maximum "crustiness" is achieved, you can wash it off with a warm, wet towel. I've read online that some girls like to leave it on their faces overnight, but I can only envision bright-green stains all over my white bedsheets, so I just did the requisite 15 minutes.

Notice the green color of the mask? Super fun! And for some reason, the green color makes me psychologically believe it's working more efficiently.

Anyhoo, verdicts: I love this mask. I thought there would be more moisturizing rather than deep-rooted cleansing, but this product absolutely calmed down my bumps and red dots around my face. Color me impressd! Easily washed off with warm water, my face felt incredibly fresh, and when followed up with Aveda Outer Peace Blemish Relief Lotion, this cooling masque is already a definite repurchase in my books.

I'm pretty fortunate to have found just what I needed when a skincare emergency arose! What are your tried-and-true favorites? Any other blemish zappers that you'd recommend?
