New In: MAC + A Few Essentials

First off, herro! I hope you all had an excellent weekend. For my first weekend as a Munich resident, we made chili con carne, shopped our heads off on Saturday, did a whole lot of boogie-ing at a club, and spent a Sunday doing all sorts of hangover-friendly activities (such as not moving all day except to get doner kebabs and froyo... as you do). Action-packed, and got some good OOTD photos to share with you, so keep an eyeball or two out for that later this week!

I've been picking up a few bits and bobbles of beauty essentials so I thought I'd do a New In post. Please excuse the shadows- I'm still experimenting with where to take photos in the flat, and thought that the balcony would be nice, but unfortunately as it is a west-facing balcony, there is a flood of sunlight right around the time I decided to take these photos.

MAC Illustrated Collection by Rebecca Moses Nordstrom Limited Edition Exclusives - snatched this up when I saw it in a MAC store in Frankfurt.

So I'm not even going to lie- I only bought this for the makeup bag. I didn't even check what makeup items came with the pouch.

After purchase, I realized that my gorgeous makeup pouch is in fact the MAC Illustrated Eye Bag (Smoldering) and the €35 price tag gets me a Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo in This and That, a Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Smolder, and False Lashes Mascara.

Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo in This and That (frosty beige-rose and light satin-y beige)

Swatched in sunlight. A bit too similar in color to use together, but I find the This (frosty beige-rose) is beautiful in the inner eyes when paired with a navy or forest green eyeshadow.

The Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Smolder is an intense black, and the False Lashes Mascara gives a lengthening albeit spidery extension to your eyelashes.

I'll use all three items in a makeup tutorial for Youtube in the future so you can see how all three work together. I'm perfectly pleased with my purchase because all I wanted was the makeup bag, so I just consider everything else bonus products.

I'm not sure why these were marketed as Nordstrom Exclusives because they're in Germany, and certainly not at a Nordstrom. I found them online on Amazon here but ahem they're going for twice the price, and for $90, that sucker ain't worth it. If you see this collection in stores, snatch it up because apparently some people are scalping theirs as it is Limited Edition.

So before I got derailed by the Rebecca Moses Collection, the actual reason I was at MAC was to repurchase my essential MAC Wipes Cleansing Towelettes. I also nabbed my Caudalíe Beauty Elixir and Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm that I was running low on. All three are absolutely essential to my daily existence. As far as the Aēsop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream, when I ran out of this product around Spring 2013, I swore I wouldn't buy it again because the price didn't justify the results. I got suckered into buying it again because of selective memory and I only remembered the softening effect it gave my lips immediately after application during item perusal. We'll see if it's better the second time around.

Some new items I've never tried: diptyque Oranger candle (smells like a spicy orange and cinnamon tree exploded in my living room, and at €46, it damn well better smell like the entire tree) and YSL La Laque Couture in Gris Underground #38 from their Fall 2013 City Drive Limited Edition Nail Polish collection (cloudy grey-blue-lavender that just screams winter luxe). The little square thingie on the left is a diptyque precious oils sample that I will report back on!

So that's my mini haul of beauty items- I have to say, I am totally in love with my diptyque candle and am dying to buy a few more to add to my collection. What are some scents you would recommend?
