Hotel Review: Steigenberger Grandhotel (Leipzig, Germany)

The Steigenberger Hotel Group is a German hotel group that owns 82 hotels worldwide. They have an excellent reputation for having amazing guest services in fabulous locations, and the Steigenberger Leipzig is no exception. Located in a stunning historical building that used to house the Museum of Fine Arts, the Steigenberger Leipzig exudes old world luxury and impeccable service while being located right smack in the middle of Leipzig's main square,

The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and exquisitely furnished in plush, gilded fabrics.

Turndown service always includes a sweet on the pillow and a weather forecast of the next day.

The bathrooms are large and come with a marble bathtub, a separate rain shower and toilet.

I especially loved the gothic lettering on the separate frosted rain shower and toilet doors. It was a transcription of Goethe's "Faust".

I love large concave sinks because they are SO much more sanitary than square sinks that are parallel with the floor.

I neglected a photo but there was a gorgeous black glass chandelier above the marble bathtub, a twin of the white glass chandelier that hangs above the couch in the living area space.

My view outside.

Nespresso machine that was quietly restocked by the staff every time I used it.

The stunning wooden staircase and ironwork balustrade.

The swirly leaf motif from the room is repeated throughout in small details, like the design on the carpet.

Down to the spa we go...

...a two-level space with relaxation beanbags and beds on top, two saunas and steam baths on the level below.

Gym with cross-trainer, ergometer, treadmills, stepper, and other equipments. They also thoughtfully place pitchers of cool mint and basil water right outside the gym and sauna.

These are just some of the photos I took, but there were so many beautiful amenities that I didn't capture on camera. My room had a spacious walk-in closet, plush slippers for his and her (which I always find so thoughtful because my feet are not a foot long), and fast and steady wifi. The friendly and uber-professional staff made me feel welcome and well-informed about every aspect of my trip.

The location couldn't have been more perfect. Since the hotel is located near the Leipzig pedestrian plaza, everything is walking distance- restaurants and cafés, shopping plaza, train station, Thomaskirche, and markets.

The Steigenberger Leipzig is ranked the #1 hotel in Leipzig by Tripadvisor. For such 5-star amenities and service, you would think that this hotel is super expensive, but it's actually very reasonably priced. I would recommend that you pre-book in order to take advantage of deals that they have, and it should cost you less than a night at the Marriott Frankfurt, for example, but with infinitely much better service and room quality.
