Sunday Spas #3

Erm. I'm quite ashamed. The last Sunday Spa I did was back in April, after my trip to Thailand. It was shortly after this Sunday Spa that my work and travel became a bit hectic, so Sunday Spas took a backseat to, say, Yacht Week in Croatia or drinking absinthe in Prague. Never mind all that. Here is another Sunday Spa for your viewing pleasure.

Currently Reading: World Without End (Century Trilogy 2) by Ken Follett
I first got sucked into Ken Follett when I read his Pillars of the World. Ken Follett specializes in writing historical fiction, but injects his novels with such fascinating details of actual historical events as seen through the eyes of compelling characters. After finishing Pillars of the World, I realized that I'd learned a great deal about Gothic and Romanesque architecture, 12th century royal intrigue and religious conflict, Thomas Becket- and it didn't even feel like a lesson! I couldn't wait to start the second book in the series, and haven't been disappointed yet. This one delves into the Hundred Years' War and the Black Death- knowing the historical outcome doesn't diminish the fun in exploring that world through the characters!

On My Face
1) Origins Modern Friction Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion
2) Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser (my review of that here)
3) Melvita Orange Blossom Extraordinary Water (my review of that here)
4) Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash (my review of that here)
5) Melvita Apicosma Soothing Toner for Sensitive Skin
6) Caudalíe Lip Conditioner

My face has been all sorts of grumpy with me lately. I'm not sure if it's because of the fluctuating weather conditions (monsoon-type to sunny and bright) or my current diet of meatmeatmeat with an extra side of meat recently. It's not so much a matter of spots but the texture has been sub-par lately, being a bit rough-looking on the cheek and forehead area.

For my face, I wanted a regimen focused on smoothing and polishing, so I used my HG item of Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleanser all over to ensure that the pores weren't the offending party. A quick all-around buffing with the Origins Dermabrasion polishes down the rough patches on my cheeks. I don't want to chafe my skin too much, so a light touch will do it. I used another HG item of Origins Frothy Face Wash to make my face squeaky clean, and a quick dab over with the Melvita Toner for Sensitive Skin (my face being sensitive after the buffing, at this point). I'm trying out the Melvita Toner after my Korres Pomegranate Toner ran out, so I'll give you an update on its efficacy after some usage. I've already raved about the Melvita Orange Blossom Extraordinary Water in a previous products review post, so no need to elaborate there. A quick application of the Caudalíe Lip Conditioner gives my lips the moisturizing they need, and hey presto, my face is set for the night.

On My Body:
1) Korres Watermelon Body Scrub (my review of this product here)
2) MoroccanOil Restorative Hair Masque in 8.5oz
3) Korres Coconut Body Milk

I got the MoroccanOil Hair Mask in a bit of a haul when returning from Europe in July (see here) so I've been diligently using it to give you a fair review on the product- coming soon! I coat my strands in that, stick on a shower cap to let it soak in, and then dig out my Korres Watermelon Body Scrub for an all-around exfoliation. I also love using the Watermelon Scrub just to hang onto summer a bit longer- nothing makes me think of hot summer days BBQing around a pool than the watermelon scent. After a good rinse, I'll apply some of the most delicious Korres Coconut Body Milk. I got the mini version of this in this haul (here) and I took it with me to Croatia, seeing how it's all tiny and travel-friendly. Omergawd does this smell absolutely divine?! Especially when slathered all over sun-soaked skin. I fully intend on splurging on a bigger container when I've run out.

On My Nails:
6) OPI Exfoliating Cuticle Treatment
7) Missha Mini Nail Buffer

Usual routine of nail polish removal and application:
  • Remove nail polish
  • Rub in the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover
  • Buff nails with the Missha Mini Nail Buffer
  • Wash and dry hands
  • Apply Sally Hansen Triple Strong Base Coat
  • Apply 2 coats of Butter London polish in Knackered
  • Apply Seche Vita Top Coat
  • Wait til everything dries, then apply Caudalíe Hand Cream
  • Apply OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil on cuticles
  • Done and dusted
It looks like this:

Butter London's Knackered is described as a "sheer, twinkling oyster shade flecked with glitter particles". It has a duochrome quality of a metallic green reminiscent of Chanel's Peridot. Gorgeous!

What are some of your Sunday rituals?

  1. You really went all out! I like to get it all done in the morning - maybe a face mask and then relax for the rest of the day.
