Korean Beauty Products Series: Missha

While a few high-end makeup products are on my rotation of products that I always use (will do a post on those later), I LOVE to read other bloggers' posts on drugstore beauty finds. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy access to French pharmaceuticals, Space NKs, CVSs/Walgreens, so I always feel like I'm missing out... until I realized that I have a gold mine of drugstore products available in Seoul. Hello?! Etude House, Missha, Aritaum, TonyMoly, Skin Food, Innisfree, The Nature Republic... the list goes on! I know that some of you have expressed a serious interest in Korean beauty products, so I thought I'd do a series on what's available in every street I pass by on a daily basis*.

*When I say I pass by on a daily basis, I mean it: I live right behind the world headquarters of Amore Pacific, makers of Amore Pacific, Hera, Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Lolita Lempicka, Innisfree, Etude House, Espoir, just to name a few.

ALSO!  I was thinking about combining this Korean Beauty Products Series with a giveaway. Each time I post a Korean Beauty Product Series (which will be once a week), if there is a minimum of 10 people who comment, I thought I'd randomly pick a commenter from each post and allow them to win one (or more!) brand new item of their choice from the products I featured. What do you think? If enough of you guys want this to happen, I'll make it a reality. Let me know down below! ^_~

I'd thought I'd start off with Missha, a brand I love for their gorgeous packaging and reliably solid cosmetics.

Missha's Signature Glam Art Rouge Lipstick

Not only is the packaging absolutely gorgeous, but the lipstick itself is too beautiful to mar! It's designed to be multi-faceted.

I chose a soft coral color called SOR401.

The lipstick is slightly heavy, giving it a luxurious feel.

It glides on very smoothly, balancing between moisture and color saturation. Love!

Top: Missha Eyeshadow in VL207, Misha Metallic Shadow in GA01
Bottom: Missha Signature Velvet Art Shadow in No. 3 Khaki Combination

I've had the Khaki combo eyeshadow for a while in my stash, and when I brought it out to show you, I realized it was alllll smooshed. I'll have to search online on how to repack that. Since you can't exactly see, it comes in dark green, light green, and gold, all in a slight metallic shimmer. This used to be in heavy rotation until I discovered YSL's eyeshadow, but I need to bring this back out because the packaging is simply too gorgeous to hide away. The other two sandwiching the Khaki compact were also used frequently, as you can see by the dents.

VL207 (stupid labeling!!!!) is on the far left. It comes out as a smoky-silvery grey. The green in the center as well as the gold on top comes from the Khaki collection but everything kind of has a gold-ish tint to it, thanks to the disaster. The purple on the far left is the GA01, which is perfect for bringing out the soft brown in brown-eyed gals.

Swatched in a bit more shadow.

M Super Extreme Waterproof Eyeliner and Pearl Eyeliner.

This black Waterproof Eyeliner is absolutely perfect for drawing winged tips/cat eye. It's almost fool-proof because of the ease with which it smoothly glides on. A word of warning- it does have a tendency to flake after about 6 hours of usage. The Pearl Eyeliner is perfect for dabbing in the inner eye for simulating an awake look. You can also get a really thin line just at the tip of the eyelid for a subtle shimmer that will also open your eyes.

Missha Eyeshadow sticks: one pointy end for eye-lining purposes, and one soft smooshy end for gliding the eyeshadow on your eyelid. The eyeshadow gets a surprisingly good amount of product on and tends to run on the shimmery side. These sticks are a divine product to throw in a streamlined clutch because they don't have the clunkiness of a compact, and you don't have to worry about a shimmery mess at the bottom of your purse at the end of the night because the eyeshadow won't break.

Brown, Green, Purple, and Blue

*These were swatched in a previous post in an artificial light so have a warmer tone to them than the other Missha product photos, sorry!*

Notice how the brown eyeshadow comes with an almost dark purple eyeliner, and the light green eyeshadow above comes with a forest green eyeliner. The purple and blue seem to be relatively similar to the eyeshadow.

I bought a replacement for my mini nail buffer. This thing is surprisingly tiny but has all the sides you need to smooth your nails before polish application.

And now: my Missha nail polish collection.

Sigh. A confession: I used to be (and may still be) a nail polish collecting junkie. I literally have over 500+ nail polishes. I used to have all the nail polish numbers of various brands listed in a memo in my phone so that I could collect the ones I didn't have. I had a "gotta catch them all" Pokemon attitude to nail polish. As a result, I have in my personal collection nearly every single color released by most drugstore brands as well as the high-end brands. This is not to be applauded. This is shameful. Think of how many third-world children I could have fed. However, since the nail polish have already been purchased, I will now document them for your viewing pleasure.

This one is called the Crystal Nail Polish Collection, and the colors are almost 3D in their depth and color. Of particular note is the one on the top, far right: it's Missha's downright exact dupe of Chanel's Peridot, way before the dupes were made for Peridot. I have swatched them both side by side and they are exactly the same. Korean drugstores have this silly policy of naming nail polishes with random letters and numbers (GL01, JBL04) so I will not name them all here. If you want to see a swatch of a particular color, then just tell me at the bottom according to collection and position in the photo.

Missha Lucid Nail Polish Collection

Missha Nail Polish Collection- obviously smaller and with a thinner formula, the pastels and basic colors tend to come in this collection.

Okay! So that's probably the fastest introduction to Missha ever. I wanted to focus on makeup and nail polishes for this first round of the Korean Beauty Products Series, but I'll get around to masques and skincare as well.

Liked anything that you see? You can win it! Just comment below on what your favorite product was, and don't forget an email address! When I get at least 10 unique commenters, I'll pick a winner and send them the product of their choice!

    1. It sucks that they're not available easily in Europe because they're so affordable and easily available here! Ebay is not an acceptable way to get these because they're WAY overpriced.
