What's In My Shower #1

  1. Aēsop Volumising Conditioner 500mL: I've uploaded images of this conditioner before on Instagram and I think the number one comment I get is that it is entirely too expensive, particularly in Korea. Despite my everlasting love for most things Aēsop, at a whopping 65,000 KRW, I have to be honest and say that I would have to agree. I would not repurchase this again. This is my third 500mL bottle of volumising conditioner that I've purchased from this company, and while I adore the smell, I use entirely too much conditioner and have way too much hair for this to be cost-effective. Also, after a total of 1500mL later, I don't find my hair to be that much more voluminous nor disentangled from this particular formula- in fact, after using this up mid-April, I've re-discovered Herbal Essences and find that their conditioner makes my hair much softer and I can use gobs of it without feeling guilty.
  2. Aēsop Volumising Shampoo 500mL: This shampoo is also worth 65,000 KRW but I ran out of the conditioner a good two weeks before I ran out of the shampoo. This means that I'm using more conditioner than recommended, or the shampoo just foams, which psychologically makes me use less. I don't think I'd repurchase this again because I like to pair my conditioner with my shampoos and I think the Volumising Conditioner is a bit useless on my Asian hair.
  3. Aēsop A Rose by Any Other Name Body Cleanser 500mL: The smell of this body cleanser is absolutely divine: roses with a bit of an edge, thanks to the cardamom and black pepper added. Unfortunately, the smell doesn't last beyond the rinse-off, and for a 71,000 KRW body wash, you would think that the smell would linger. It doesn't leave oily residue on your body afterward, which I love, because I would much prefer to moisturize with body cream rather than moisturize through my body cleanser. It does last a darn long time, though I think that's more due to the size of the 500mL bottle rather than the cleanser itself. May repurchase? There are other cleansers for me to try out first.
  4. Bumble and Bumble Deeep Hair Masque 50mL: This is literally the smallest container of hair product. Three good squeezes and you're already 3/4 of the bottle out. Or maybe I just use too much hair product? I bought this to revitalize my hair after the damage of sun, salt, and sand from Thailand, but I honestly did not see a difference in the sheen of my hair. It's described as an "intensive moisture and protein mask... a cure-all for chemically-treated, sun-damaged, and undernourished hair", but it just felt like really weak conditioner to me. I left it in for the requisite 20 minutes, and expecting magic to happen, I rinsed it out... but nothing. I'm glad I got the 50mL container as a trial because I won't be repurchasing this.
  5. MoroccanOil Hydrating Style Cream (10.2oz): This product has gotten hype from the blogging community so I decided to try it out, and boy do I love this product! I apply it right when I exit the shower to my damp hair, and not only does it keep my hair frizz-free, silky-looking, and soft-feeling, but it smells absolutely divine! I will bring this product with me to any and all tropical destinations because it is a definite must for humidity and salt-water exposure.
  6. Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish: This is a lovely, lovely product. I wish I had gotten into this scrub a lot earlier because it literally feels like I've been at a 5 hour spa session wrapped in a banana leaf after applying this product. My full review of this product is here.
I'm on the lookout for an exceptional conditioner, one that will bring sheen and luster to my thick Asian hair. I've read in this blogpost that the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is fabulous for lengthy hair, keeping it tangle-free, which is precisely what I need for this mop of hair. I'll keep a lookout for this when I'm in Europe next week!

What about you? What's in your shower?
